Site-Specific Installation

BayScape— is an immersive, site-specific installation by Nathalie Alfonso that transforms the iconic International Inn Art Deco overlook into a shifting landscape mirroring the bay. Using translucent vinyl and cellophane in gradients of blues, teals, and pinks, the work filters daylight into a flowing choreography of color and shadow.

Rooted in Alfonso’s LineScape methodology—repetition, endurance, and incremental mark-making—the installation translates drawing into layered, organic lines that evoke the horizon, rising tides, and radiant sunsets dissolving into water and sky. Her drawings become a way of inhabiting space—an act of observation and persistence that quietly reshapes how a site is seen, felt, and remembered.

BayScape— is presented as part of the 2025 edition of No Vacancy, Miami Beach, supported by the City of Miami Beach and the Miami Beach Visitor and Convention Authority (MBVCA). The annual juried art competition celebrates and supports local artists, inviting the public to experience Miami Beach’s celebrated hotels as vibrant, temporary art destinations.
